Construction is progressing on the $4 million Loganlea Fire and Rescue Station, with the station set to be operational next year.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson says the fire station build is progressing in line with the building contractor’s programme.
Recent activities carried out on site include the completion of detailed excavation to all slab areas, the pouring of the footings and slab areas (including in-ground plumbing and electrical installations) and the erection of the steel framing for the station and engine bays.
Minister for Fire and Emergency Services Mark Ryan says the $4 million fire station would boost delivery of critical fire and rescue services to the area.
“Queensland Fire and Emergency Services responds to a wide range of incidents each year and state-of-art facilities like the one being constructed here will enable them to continue answering the call for help.”
The Member for Waterford, Shannon Fentiman says it was essential that firefighters have the necessary infrastructure and equipment they need to fulfil the vital role they play in our communities.
“We are building the infrastructure needed for our fast-growing Logan community.
“The new station will also provide spaces for training to ensure the QFES staff are best equipped to keep our community safe.”
The tender for the project was awarded to building contractor Woollam Constructions.
The construction of the building is set to be completed by the end of June, next year.
