Queensland police believe those accused of murdering a Fraser Coast country club owner were involved in a ram raid in the hours leading up to the shooting.
64 year old Gregory Harding, was found dead at his home at the Craignish Country Club near Hervey Bay early Last Monday (August 16).
Police say he was shot at close range.
Detective Inspector Gary Pettiford says the accused allegedly stole a dark-coloured Isuzu D-MAX four-wheel drive from Maroochydore on Friday, August 13.
He says the vehicle was then driven to Hervey Bay.
“On the 15th August about 10pm at night, that vehicle was involved in a ram raid in the Stocklands shopping centre,”.
“Three people were involved in that. We have CCTV footage that we’ve viewed and we believe one of those persons is a female.
“We’ll then be alleging that approximately half an hour after that, they travelled to the country club and then following that Mr Harding was murdered.”
The vehicle was later found burnt out in Maryborough.
Detective Inspector Gary Pettiford says. “We haven’t ruled out it being a robbery gone wrong. I can reveal we believe more than two people are involved in the murder, including a woman of interest and we are appealing for members of the Fraser Coast or Logan area to come forward with any information.”
Two Loganlea men were apprehended in Coomera last Saturday and their case was briefly mentioned in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning and adjourned until the 20th of next month.
30 year old Joshua Pope, and 25 year old Gregory Prior, have each been charged with murder and were remanded in custody.
