Jimboomba police have taken to the road to drive home the importance of the community taking responsibility for their actions to make their community safe.
Visits with community members who came to the attention of local police in the past month due to their poor driving behaviours (distraction, speeding, drink and drug driving) and their families have taken place to reinforce the Operation Own It initiative.
Operation Own It is putting the spotlight on the community’s responsibility to reduce road trauma.
“We all need to take responsibility and own our behaviour especially behind the wheel,” Senior Sergeant Peter Waugh said.
“This year has been extremely challenging for us all, especially on our roads where we have seen the drastic consequences of fatal and serious injury crashes affect our community.
“Our behaviour needs to change, we all need to take responsibility of our actions and own the decisions we make.
“These decisions not only affect us, but our families.”
On a merrier note, Christmas hampers kindly donated from Quota Jimboomba were delivered to families across Jimboomba and Beaudesert.
“It’s a tough time for many but being able to spread some Christmas cheer to those in real need has allowed us to wrap the year up in a positive way,” Senior Constable Lou Rossi said.
“Policing has its challenges but bringing joy to others is a real highlight at this time of year.”
