Thousands of speeding motorists caught by fixed camera

  • Rod Stephen is a former television journalist and has worked as Foreign Editor for the Seven Network, Australian Bureau Chief for TV3 New Zealand, UK correspondent for Seven and ABC radio and as a producer for Reuters TV in London as well as SBS in Sydney and Melbourne before returning to Brisbane to work at 4BC.

It’s been revealed, a fixed speed camera operating on the M1 at Loganholme is one of Queensland’s worst areas for speeding drivers.

More than 16-thousand fines were issued to drivers last year for disobeying road rules at the Loganholme location.

Most fixed camera locations have a warning to drivers that they are coming up to a police detection device,  however many were recently removed by the previous Police Commissioner.

The Loganholme camera took third spot in the list of Queensland locations that racked in the most amount of money.

An  intersection at Broadbeach Waters on the Gold Coast took out the top spot,  while the  the intersection of Mount Gravatt-Capalaba Rd at MacKenzie, as you head towards the Gateway Motorway merge came in second on the list.

The results were revealed by police as they continue their safe-driving campaign called “Operation Tango Anaconda” targeting drug driving,  but  also speeding and drink driving.
