Three Logan groups share funding for women

Three Logan community groups are among the 34 to receive funding from the state government in the latest round of Investing in Queensland Women grants.

Young Change Agents, the Centre Against Sexual Violence and Stronger Pathways have all been named as grant recipients for their work promoting female leadership and supporting those experiencing sexual violence and domestic and family violence.

Minister for Women and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence Shannon Fentiman says the organisations will share in $270,000 in funding.

“The success of Queensland women and girls is essential in achieving gender equality.”

“These grants of up to $15,000 for each organisation will see women empowered across the State, boosting our economy and our communities.”

“The initiatives in this round focus on a broad range of issues including domestic and family violence prevention, healthy relationships, women’s health and wellbeing and women’s mentoring.”

Minister Fentiman says all of the funded projects are aligned with the new Queensland Women’s Strategy and the State Government’s commitment to support and encourage women and girls to participate in all aspects of society.

“Since launching the Investing in Queensland Women grants program in February last year, more than 90 grants have been provided, totalling almost $810,000 to support community initiatives.”

“I want to congratulate all the successful recipients in this round and acknowledge their hard work in making Queensland a safer place for women and girls.”

“I also encourage organisations to start thinking about creative new initiatives and partnerships and apply for the next round of the grant program, which opens in July.”
