Logan City Council is currently designing a road project to widen and extend Crowson Lane because of increasing traffic, and has released digitally constructed footage ahead of an upcoming community consultation on the upgrade.

The project area extends from Teviot Road in North Maclean to Stanley Court in Munruben. The upgrade will help to ensure Crowson Lane is able to safely accommodate future traffic demands.

The project is included in Council’s Integrated Local Transport Plan.

According to Council, the project will provide a more direct route from Teviot Road to Mount Lindesay Highway for the projected increase in vehicles using local roads.

Traffic is expected to increase significantly over the next 20 years as a result of residential and business growth linked to the Greater Flagstone Priority Development Area.

Crowson Lane currently carries approximately 2,000 vehicles per day. By 2041 this figure is expected to rise to approximately 28,000 vehicles per day, a 1300% increase.

According to Council, if Crowson Lane is not upgraded, congestion and delays can be expected into the future as the volume of traffic increases along local roads.

The project includes:

  • widening Crowson Lane from one to two lanes in each direction between Stanley Court and Greenbank Road (including breakdown lanes, centre
  • median strip and pathways on both sides)
  • extending Crowson Lane from Greenbank Road to Teviot Road
  • widening Teviot Road between the new Crowson Lane extension and Hives Road
  • traffic lights at the following intersections: Greenhill Road, Shetland Court, Greenbank Road, Teviot Road, Hives Road
  • a new left-in and left-out arrangement for Appaloosa Court and Andalusian Drive
  • u-turn facilities to be provided at Shetland Court and Greenhill Road intersections

The project has completed the preliminary design phase. Detailed design activities have started and are expected to complete in the first half of 2021.

Pending approvals and funding allocation, construction work may start in the financial year 2022 / 2023.

A community information day is being held on Saturday March 27 between 9.00am and 12.00 midday. The event is being held at Greenbank Community Centre: 145-167 Teviot Road, Greenbank.

Project representatives will be on-hand to talk through the road alignment and design elements, and large format drawings will be available to highlight the final design in more detail.

Please note there are no formal presentation times. Division 11 Councillor, Cr Natalie Willcocks, will also attend.

Due to current COVID-19 requirements, Council is asking attendees to pre-register to make sure we can safely accommodate everyone. You can pre-register by emailing your name(s) and approximate attendance time to roadcomms@logan.qld.gov.au by Monday 22 March 2021.
