Yarrabilba will have a full-time fire station next financial year when more firefighters join the ranks of the Fire and Rescue Service.
The station will have 23 additional staff when it moves from an auxiliary outfit to a 24-7 operation sometime in the second half of next year.
Those 23 are part of 97 firefighters joining the ranks of the FRS statewide.
Fire and Emergency Services Minister Mark Ryan says the government will spend more than $86 million between now and 2025 to boost firefighter numbers by 15 per cent or another 357 across Queensland in that time.
“This demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring the FRS has the resources it needs to protect the community”.
The doors to the $4.75 million Yarrabilba facility opened in July.
