After being knocked back by Logan City Council two years ago, the Logan Brothers Rugby Club has finally been allowed to build a fence for their field with Council funding thanks to Councillor Teresa Lane.
At the first ordinary council meeting of the year, Logan City Council passed the recommendations of the City Lifestyle Committee 4.1 to allow several local clubs to deliver Local Infrastructure Program (LIP) Projects.
Cr Lane, Division 2, was heavily involved and said she was proud to help out local clubs.
“Jon Raven and I are funding $150,000 of divisional funds to fence the Logan Brothers Rugby League Club Inc precinct,” she said.
“Today’s decision means the club will be able to secure the premises when doing field maintenance to keep the public safe from pesticides and to keep topsoil work from being damaged.
“It will preserve the fields from motorbikes and other damaging uses, and it will give the club the opportunity to apply for the InTrust Cup in the future.
“With almost 900 members from all parts of Logan City, Logan Brothers is the biggest Junior Rugby League Club in Queensland and they needed a fence.”
Cr Lane said Logan Brothers is known for producing football stars.
“It produces football stars there’s no doubt about that. But what it also does is produce a fun great time for local families,” she said.
“It produces opportunities for kids to make friends and to build those friendships.”
