The 2021 Netball Season at Jimboomba Netball Association will start on the 6th March, and clubs from the region are encouraging anyone interested in joining to come along to sign on days this month.
From 9am on Saturday 6th and Saturday 13th February, local clubs will be accepting registrations and enquiries for the 2021 season.
Bluejays Netball Club Jimboomba will be one of the clubs at the sign on days at the Sports Park, South Street, Jimboomba.
Spokesperson for the Bluejays Netball Club Sarah Houghton says the sign on days are for any young people interested in trying out netball.
“Boys and girls from five years to 17 years can come along and join,” Ms Houghton said. “Bluejays will have coaches on the day to help with tryouts, and we really encourage boys to come along, as we have mixed teams up to 12 years old.
“For the younger players they do a shorter season where they learn to handle a ball and no scores are kept, then each age level gets closer to learning the real rules of the game.”
Ms Houghton, who has been with the club for 10 years, says it’s an enjoyable sport and a great way to meet new friends.
Logan Village Falcons Netball spokesperson Michelle Sayer is encouraging school kids who haven’t tried netball before to meet with the club members on the day to get to know more about the sport and the club.
“Come down and meet us, get to know the club and where we train,” Ms Sayer said. “We’re also looking for umpires and coaches, so if you’re interested, come and have a chat with us.”
Ms Sayer said the club is also offering a free gift for players who register: their very own Logan Village Falcons netball.
Flagstone Netball Club, The Hills All Sports Hornets Netball Club and new club Yarrabilba Netball will also be at the signup days at Sports Park, South Street, Jimboomba from 9am to 1pm to take new player sign ups.
