Beaudesert police say they’ve had a disappointing result following another recent crackdown on unsafe driving.
Senior Sergeant Ken Murray has said 31 drivers tested positive to alcohol or drugs while another 81 tickets were issued to other motorists.
He says it was a shock to see so many getting caught, in the late morning, between 9am and 10am.
“We conducted a road safety action in the Scene Rim where we conducted over 3,000 RBT’s and drugs tests on drivers. These statistics raise concern and are a good reminder to all of us if you are found driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs you will lose your licence and be fined heavily. The community needs to own their responsibility and never drive:
- after taking prescription or over-the-counter medications that can affect your driving
- after taking illegal drugs
- after drinking too much
Sergeant Murray added “If drivers are unsure about how drugs may affect them, think about alternatives such as asking someone for a lift, catching public transport or booking an alternative transport service. Alcohol and drugs impair your ability to drive and you put yourself and others at risk of injury or death. Police are committed to reducing the number of deaths on Queensland roads, but we can’t do that without community help. safety is everyone’s responsibility”.
