Logan City councillor Tony Hall has shared his hopes to fix a Bethania intersection notorious for car crashes, he’s even affectionately nicknamed it ‘the Mexican standoff’.
The intersection comprises two junctions – Albert Street and Church Road, High Road and King Arthur Boulevard, and Albert Street and Station Road – numerous stop signs, and one busy off ramp coming from Logan River Road.

This particularly dangerous intersection has been the cause of many accidents, and caused a lot of stress and confusion for residents.
“The goal to address this area has also been shared by other elected members such as Shannon Fentiman MP and Bert van Manen MP as well as many residents in Division 6,” Cr Hall said.
“Last year in council chambers I strongly advocated for this area to be addressed as a matter of public safety and I am proud to say that my fellow councilmen voted in agreement to it being done sooner rather than later.

“We are one step closer to resolving this problem area with the completion of preliminary design work being completed by the Logan City Council road infrastructure design group.
“This project involves all levels of government (local, state, federal) and I hope that its completion shows what can be achieved when we advocate for the right things and all work together in the interest of local residents and their safety.”
The preliminary designs by the Logan City Council road infrastructure design group feature four sets of traffic lights, which should clear up confusion for residents unsure of when to give way at the intersection.
