Wet weather over the weekend hampered Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum’s Art and Craft Market Day that was set to host a score of activities for kids.
The village, which is able to accommodate roughly 90 stalls, holds market days where visitors can pick up a range of wares, from crafts, jewellery, plants and candles, to macrame, glassware and aromatherapy. There is also a range of kids activities usually abundant at the markets, including face painting and Shetland pony rides.
However, with the possibility of wet weather hitting the region over the weekend, spokesperson from Beenleigh Historical Village Madeleine Green said the markets had about five different stall holders not turn up without notification, and the kids activities were among them.
“This is often a problem with these events,” Ms Green said. “Usually they’re pretty good.
“I’m assuming that the potential rain forecasts might have scared some people off. We’ve followed up and are waiting on a response, but it’s likely because of the weather.
Ms Green said she sincerely apologises for anyone who came to the markets and was disappointed with the no-show of some kids activities.
“We apologise to anyone left disappointed over the weekend,” she said. “We do our best to make sure the market days are fun and exciting and sometimes weather or missing stall holders can be a problem.”
