Logan City, along with City of Gold Coast and City of Redlands, are the first regions in Queensland to pilot the ASPIRE recycling program.
ASPIRE goes one step further than a passive waste exchange, by actively suggesting business to business collaborations.
ASPIRE has been developed by CSIRO and Data61 in response to manufacturing companies talking to their local councils about waste disposal costs.
Logan City Councillor Teresa Lane took to social media to share her excitement for the new recycling opportunity.
“Recycling just got really cheap for local businesses,” she said.
“Logan City Council is one of the first cities in Queensland to offer the ASPIRE program – a waste exchange platform for businesses.
“Items including cardboard, green waste, animal waste, car parts, fabrics, biodiesel and more are traded on the marketplace to be reused or recycled.
“Sell, donate and trade your waste with other businesses on the ASPIRE platform. And, if your business has under 100 staff, you can sign up to the platform for free.”
