As police continue to set up permanent road blocks at border checkpoints, it’s been revealed Logan District officers won’t be utilised for operations on the Gold Coast.
During last year’s border closure, some Logan City based officers were called upon to assist at various checkpoints.
Acting Chief Superintendent Rhys Wildman says police from other parts of Queensland will be asked to help on the border, but the Logan District will be exempt.
He also says police across the Scenic Rim will be involved in border checkpoints, most notably at Numinbah.
Crews will be working through the night to install concrete barriers on the M1 and Gold Coast Highway in place of temporary checkpoints.
Police have asked for patience as motorists will encounter lengthy delays.
