A Logan City family has been left homeless after going to sleep last night and leaving incense burning in the main bedroom.
Fire trucks, police, and ambulance were called to the scene at 8.40pm last night, when fire gutted the Alvin Drive, Eagleby home.
A Man in his 40s was taken to Logan hospital and treated for minor smoke inhalation.
It has been confirmed the family had no home insurance.
Louie Naumovski from Logan House Fire Support Network said the family will be needing assistance moving forward.
“An unattended incense candle was left on while the occupant was asleep, thankfully working smoke alarms alerted him to the fire or the outcome could have been much worse,” Mr Naumovski said.
“We urge everyone not to leave anything with a flame unattended and check your smoke alarms are in working order.”
