Person rescued from floodwaters in the Scenic Rim

A person has been rescued from flood waters at Biddaddaba in the Scenic Rim after their car was washed off a flooded road.

Swift-water rescue firefighters were called in to retrieve the person after yesterday afternoon’s incident.

They found a motorist clinging to a tree in floodwater off Armstrong Road.

Two occupants of the car had made their way to safety.

The rescued person was assessed at the scene, but didn’t need to be taken to hospital.

The rain may have eased but major flooding is still occurring along the Logan River to Yarrahappini, with the flood peak around the Beaudesert area.

River levels are at 10.72 metres and falling which is higher than the peak last Saturday.

The Logan River at Beaudesert is expected to remain above the major flood level of 8.3 metres for a good part of today and moderate flooding may occur along the Logan River downstream of Yarrahappini.

The Albert River is also rising as a result of yesterday’s heavy rainfall.
