Air tanker on loan for bushfire season

With the upcoming bushfire radar focussing on parts of Logan City and the surrounds, a special firefighting aircraft tanker has been brought in to help battle any flare ups.

Hundreds of hectares across the southeast have been earmarked as fire hotspots.

The specialised “DASH 8” aircraft is part of Queensland’s arsenal that was brought in after last year’s devastating fires across Australia.

To complicate matters, CoronaVirus restrictions mean the Sunshine State won’t be able to get assistance from southern-state fire-fighting colleagues

However, bushfire concerns have eased, with the forecast of an average rainfall until the end of the year.

The “DASH 8” converted firebombing aircraft was built in 2011 and is owned by “CONAIR”. The plane can carry 10,000 litres of water.
