The Beenleigh Train Station could be on the move from its current location to underneath the recently-upgraded town square.
The move is part of the overarching Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail Project, which will deliver a range of benefits for local residents.
As part of the move, there are plans for a new multi-story Park ‘n’ Ride at Beenleigh Station with an integrated bus interchange, as well as a duplication of the rail tunnel under Beenleigh Town Square.
A TransLink spokesman says an upgrade of Beenleigh Station will increase accessibility, safety and amenity for travellers.
“Measures include platform straightening and a new pedestrian bridge, a proposed multi-storey Park ‘n’ Ride expansion to include over 400 additional car parks and dedicated Kiss ‘n’ Ride facility, as well as a modern station design with improved safety and disability access features.
“Community consultation on the project was undertaken in September and October 2021.
“During this consultation, some suggestions were made for relocating Beenleigh station closer to the town centre to facilitate easier access to shops and businesses.
“Community feedback also emphasised other important aspects of the station design including ease of access, integration of bus services, and improving car parking.
“The project team will be considering this feedback in refining the project design.”
Further consultation on the location and design features of Beenleigh station will be undertaken before finalising a preferred location later this year.
