Tonight, the $120 million Powerball draw has the second-biggest prize ever offered by an Australian lottery game, only surpassed by a $150 million Powerball draw held in September 2019, where three individuals shared the jackpot.
Could Logan City welcome its biggest individual lottery winner?
Logan City has had it’s fair share of Lotto winners over the years.
In August 2017, a young Logan man in his 30s won almost $700,000 saying he was overwhelmed of the win and had no idea how he would use the money.
“It’s just wonderful news. It just hasn’t sunk in yet, but it’ll help set me up for the future,” he says.
In March 2018, a Logan woman became a Saturday Gold Lotto division one winner in the $20 Million Superdraw.
The ecstatic winner in her 50s held one of 15 division one winning entries across Australia, with each entry winning the division one prize of $1.3 million.
Then in April 2018, a couple from Logan Village revamped their retirement plans after discovering they won division one in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw, worth over $500,000.
Fourteen members of a long-running Logan syndicate won over $700,000 back in February 2019, where the winning syndicate was sold at Logan City News, Corner of Kingston Road and Wembley Road, Kingston.
Then in May 2020, a Logan man took home a whopping $17 million in a Powerball draw
“I think I am going to pass out! This completely changes everything for me,” he says of the win.
“I almost didn’t buy a ticket, but then I thought ‘why not?'”
With $120 million up for grabs tonight, The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart says up to half of Australian adults were expected to have an entry into the Powerball draw.
“While we’ve never had a $120 million Powerball draw before, if previous big jackpots are anything to go by, we can expect it to get busier and busier at lottery outlets and online leading up to [tonight’s] draw.
“If we have a division one winner tomorrow, we’ll be wanting to let them know straight after the draw. They may not need to head into work on Friday, or ever again!”
