Logan City Council hasn’t given up on its plan to host one or more Olympics events in 2032.
Mayor Darren Power says despite not being given the chance to host boxing , bicycle motocross (BMX) or kayaking by the Queensland Government he still believes there are other events the city will be able to host.

He says swimming could be one of them.
Mayor Power believes he will be supported by Woodridge MP and State Treasurer Cameron Dick along with Attorney General and Waterford MP Shannon Fentiman.
He says the city’s ideal location, between the two major Olympic zones of Brisbane and the Gold Coast, is well-placed to maximise benefits of the Games and leverage infrastructure investment that may not otherwise have been realised.
Councilor Power says the cultural and social benefits for the city would be vast.
“We are a proud city thriving on community spirit and cultural abundance and are well positioned to leverage on our multicultural population to host the Games’ cultural program and host nations linked to our unique cultural make-up.”.
