Souths Logan Magpies are set to play their first match of the Hostplus Queensland Cup this season against the Central Queensland Capras this Sunday at Davies Park in Brisbane.
Coach Steve Bretherington believes he has a very strong team.
“You would like to think so but it’s a bit of a biassed sort of answer there but they’ll be strong. Everyone is strong in the Queensland Cup”
One of the team leaders is Christian Hazard. He’s now 28 years old and believes he has quite a bit to teach the younger players.
“We’ve got a really young sort of squad. Like most of them are like 20, 21, 22 sort of. So just being a bit experienced for the young boys. Really not much of a big talker and telling them too much what to do. Just sort of helping them out one on one and giving them little tips.”
He says what position he will be playing this Sunday will depend on the number of Broncos players who will be on the field but in the past he’s been a team Captain and Hooker.
Fabien Paletua-kiri is another member of the leadership group. He says he’s looking forward to Sunday’s game.
“It’s been a long pre-season but like everyone else all the hard part is over and it’s time to have fun.”
