Family business serving coffee with heart

Luv a Coffee? I sure do! That’s why I found myself at Luv A Coffee on Main Street in Beenleigh. I’ve said it before, but I will say it again. Coffee shops/cafes and local restaurants are the cornerstones of communities. Luv A Coffee is a prime example of this for the Beenleigh area. Even when speaking with colleagues here at My News Feed I mentioned that I had been into Luv a Coffee and was met with an “oh my mum loves that place she lives near there.”

Luv A Coffee is on Main Street which means the opportunity for outdoor dining is limited. Coming off the street you enter a surprisingly large space with plenty of seating well-spaced throughout the room. The walls of the cafe are littered with works by local artists that are all for sale which adds a great local vibe to the place. Luv A Coffee is not flashy or over the top inside, it is exactly what it needs to be. There is a real warmth to the place, from the freely available newspapers and magazines to the quirky quotes on the chalkboard out the front. The place screams ‘mum and pop’ local family-owned business.

Luv A Coffee use beans from The Establishment, a Brisbane based coffee roastery with 60 years’ experience in the coffee game. The cafe uses a blend called “The Upshot” which is a medium roast with a caramel undertone. The coffee was good without being outstanding. Nothing to fault here and you wouldn’t turn your nose up at it.

Now I know I previously discussed my love of a “Big Breakfast” and Luv A Coffee definitely does have this on the menu (quite reasonably priced at only $14.95 also) but I strayed away on this occasion. The night before I had been watching “The Boys” on Amazon (amazing show) and there was a scene of a family sitting down eating pancakes, so I was in a real pancake mood! Luckily,  Luv A Coffee was able to assist me with this craving.

Their Home Style Pancakes, served with maple syrup, cream and ice cream is only $12.95 and I added a side of bacon for an extra $3.90. The pancakes were perfectly cooked, soft and fluffy and the perfect size. The meal comes with three pancakes and it is exactly the right amount. The bacon was well cooked and not too greasy which provided the perfect salty cut through with the sweet taste of the pancakes and ice cream.

I love being in an establishment where you feel like part of the family. That’s what being at Luv A Coffee felt like, I was greeted with a smile as I ordered and loved watching the staff interact with the regular customers. A simple “The usual today John” as a client walked in and plenty of laughs between staff and customers was on the menu. Luv A Coffee is the quintessential local cafe. A place to have a drink, sit back, relax and enjoy the company of the people around you. Definitely get along and check this place out.
