The RSPCA is asking you to get behind today’s paw-fectly delicious cupcake fundraiser.
Animal lovers around the country are holding in-person events and virtual parties for RSPCA’s Cupcake Day to raise money and awareness for the important community-based charity.
One of those animal lovers is Rebel FM’s Jodie Shepherd, who will be selling cupcakes at the Arndale Shopping Centre in Springwood.
“We’ll be set up just inside the entrance, next to Coles,” Ms Shepard said. “We’ll have about 250 cupcakes for people and ‘pupcakes’ for owners to purchase for their doggies.”
Ms Shepard says that she hasn’t done something like this before, but she has always wanted to.
“I love animals, and other people love cupcakes, so it’s like a win-win.”
With the RSPCA Queensland charity caring for over 50,000 animals every year, and receiving less than 4% in government funding, RSPCA QLD spokesperson Michael Beatty says community fundraising events, like Cupcake Day, are vital.
“All funds raised will go straight into animal care, as the care and hands on support we offer to pets and wildlife in need, never stops,” Mr Beatty says.
So far, over $230,634 have been raised across Australia, with RSPCA Queensland teams some of the top fundraisers in the country.
