Thousands of homes across Logan City and the Scenic Rim are without power after a massive hailstorm.

Energex says crews will be working into the night to restore supply to more than 31,000 customers across South-East Queensland.

That includes 16,000 customers across Logan City and the Scenic Rim,  while another 11,000 are without power on the Gold Coast.

At Hillcrest,  hail the size of cricket balls were reported during the height of the storm activity.

Elsewhere,  golf ball sized hail turned the last day of October into a winter wonderland,   while other locations like Springwood received reports of minor hail stones and a lot of rain.

The weather also disrupted today’s Queensland state election with candidates and their supporters being forced to take cover as the hailstorm hit.

Multiple storm fronts moved in from the west,  with the weather bureau issuing a severe weather alert earlier in the day.

Tomorrow’s weather seems clear but predicted a possible shower and gusty southerly change for Monday.
