The number of drivers rolling the dice by running red lights is on the rise across southeast Queensland.

Figures from Queensland police, obtained by the RACQ, show more than 500 drivers per week have been caught running red lights.

The Leopard St/Stanley St intersection at Woolloongabba, in Brisbane, tops the list with almost 1800 fines handed out.

The next worst spot is the red light camera on the Gold Coast Highway at Broadbeach, at the intersection of Margaret Ave., where there were more than 1500 fines.

No Logan City intersections make it into the top 10 worst spots.

The penalty for running a red light is a $400 fine and three demerit points.
