The department of Transport and Main Roads has advised that Tamborine Mountain Road will remain closed in both directions for some time following this week’s landslide.
Large boulders crashed down onto the roadway completely covering it and shutting what is colloquially known as the goat track.
Main Roads said the road will be closed for an extended period of time while geotechnical inspections are carried out.
The DTMR said it would reopen the roadway as soon as possible, but cautioned that it could be some time.
