The Anzac Day dawn service and march are expected to return to Logan City on the 25th of April after traditions honouring veterans were disrupted because of Covid-19 restrictions last year.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced on Tuesday the services would go ahead “as normal”.
“In times of strife, Queenslanders do what it takes to protect each other,” she wrote on Facebook.
“We’ve done it in wartime, and we’re doing it now through the global pandemic.
“Because we’ve worked together to keep safe, this year we can safely gather to mark the sacrifices of those who have served.”
Logan City was a ghost town last year as the Anzac Day march and service were cancelled and residents were encouraged to step out onto their driveway, verandah or porch to commemorate the day.
Beenleigh RSL President, David Draper has said they’re planning to hold the regular annual dawn service at the War Memorial in Crete Street, Beenleigh, as long as it’s safe to do so.
“We’ve held it there for almost 100 years, nearly, and the March comes straight down the street from Kokoda and into the memorial centre – the same as what we have done every year”
The Beenleigh RSL is now waiting to see what regulations they will have to follow for the dawn service and march to take place on Anzac Day.

Logan City residents will also be able to show their support through the continuation of the “Light Up The Dawn” personal driveway commemorations at 6am on ANZAC Day.
