Distillery Road’s Trucks and Tunes event drawing in locals after three months

Three months after the Trucks and Tunes event began running at the Distillery Road Market in Eagleby, the event’s manager says he is pleased with the positive response from the community.

The Trucks and Tunes event provides a platform for one local artist or music group to show off their talents from 4-9pm weekly on Friday and Saturday nights

Attendees can pick up food from a variety of different trucks and let their children play at a range of game stalls while the music is playing outside of a reconstructed warehouse.

Attendance to Trucks and Tunes has started slowly, but is slowly picking up, as the word has spread around the community about the good food and good music on offer.

Manager Vaughn says he’s content with how the event is developing and growing.

“We’re still relatively new so it’s a big learning process for us, three months in, but we’re slowly building into a big brand that people know about”.

So far Trucks and Tunes has been able to attract the talents of local artists such as Eleea Navarro, Briana Dinsdale, The Accidents and Danny Dyson

The event aims to have a variety of different food trucks from different cultural groups.

If you go along to a Trucks and Tunes event, you are likely to find craft beer, Hungarian langos, Bavarian wurst, Mexican posados, Italian pizza and gelato, along with South-East Asian and Indian food options.

Vagabond Food Trucks Owners Sam and Ben, who trained together as chefs, say they are delighted to cook food in a precinct that is set to become a lot more popular.

“The location here is really good, being between the Gold Coast and Brisbane, it’s relatively central.

“Vaughan puts a lot of effort into stylizing the food vans that are here each week, so that make’s a big difference.”

Entertainment for children can found in the form of the event’s very own Sideshow Alley, provided by GPL Amusements.

A full lane of game stalls is available to play with, with the basketball and balloon trucks popular options.

When chatting to locals at a Trucks and Tunes event, you’ll find that the food, music and games for children are all reasons that have brought them along for the night.

Vaughn says he’s focused on realising the potential of the event.

“It’s definitely a big push we want to make for next year is having the local area be a great destination for people between Brisbane and the Gold Coast to come and enjoy each weekend.”

The Markets will kick off again on the 14th January.
