The RACQ urges Logan motorists not to get robbed at the bowser this Christmas

The RACQ has urged drivers in south east Queensland to shop around for the best deals at the pump this Christmas.

Club spokeswoman Renee Smith says daily average prices for regular unleaded (ULP) in Logan, Brisbane, Ipswich and on the Gold and Sunshine Coasts were sitting between 154 and 160 cents per litre (cpl).

“We’re expecting prices will continue to fall slightly ahead of Christmas Day.”

“This will be a welcome reprieve for millions of Queenslanders who were being slugged record high prices last month.”

Ms Smith warns drivers that prices will rise again in the weeks after Christmas.

“There’s no indication of an increase just yet, but once we near the bottom of the cycle, prices will start to climb. On top of this, there continues to be some volatility with oil prices due to the emergence of Omicron.”

“So, now’s the time to fill up, but make sure you do your research as we know prices can vary between sites by 30cpl or more.

“That’s why it’s important to use apps like RACQ’s Fair Fuel Finder to find the best deals. It’s also worth checking prices along your route or at your destination as you may find it’s cheaper to fill up there.”
