Drunk and drugged drivers condemned by Logan police

Five drink-drivers and four drugged drivers have been condemned by Logan police for their actions, after an operation to reduce road trauma.

Operation Anticline happened in Waterford West as Queensland remained on track to record one of its worst ever road death tolls.

As of last Sunday, 268 people have died on the state’s roads, the result of 239 fatal crashes.

With the state’s borders now open, police are preparing for more drivers to be on the roads.

A  Logan District police spokesman says we should all take greater responsibility when it comes to drink driving.

“We can do better than this, we need motorists to stop and think! Drink Driving is one of Queensland’s major killers. Plan ahead, call upon friends or family who aren’t drinking to collect you if you are attending a function. There is no excuse to get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.”

“We have lost 268 lives on Queensland roads so far this year. That’s 268 people whose lives were cut short, and who have left family and friends behind”.

Police stopped 570 drivers during the operation, including a disqualified driver, three unlicensed drivers and they issued 18 drivers with various fines.
