An overnight house fire in Logan City has left a family of four without a liveable home and sent three of them to hospital, after a late night barbeque sizzle gone wrong.
A QFES Media representative confirmed two crews were sent to the Berrinba, Fairweather St home, at 9.20pm.
“Crews were there until about 25 minutes until midnight,” he said.
“The back of the single story brick home was fully engulfed by flames. The back patio and bedroom and rear of the house was destroyed.
“By about 25 minutes to 10pm the fire was under control.”

Logan House Fire Support founder Louie Naumovski said the father, in his 50s, was on the back patio using the family barbeque when it all went down.
“He did everything he could to contain the flames to the barbeque,” he said.
“As a result of trying to stop it he suffered pretty serious burns.
“The mother and daughter were inside and suffered smoke inhalation. But their son was being watched by the neighbours at the time.
“All of the neighbours gathered together and poured water over the dad while they waited for emergency services to arrive.”
A QAS Media representative confirmed the injuries, and said the burns suffered by the father were indeed serious.
“He was transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital and the other two to Logan Hospital,” she said.
Mr Naumovski said the mother, daughter, and son were currently staying with extended family. However, the father was still in hospital.
“I imagine he’s going to be in there for a while yet,” he said.
“Luckily they had the house insured.”

A Police Media representative confirmed the fire started from the barbeque gas bottle.
“A gas examiner and inspectors and investigators are still on scene,” he said.
“We know the fire started from the gas bottle. But we don’t know yet why or whether it exploded or leaked or something else.”
Mr Naumovski from the Logan House Fire Support Group said it could have been a number of things.
“It could have been a leak, out of date, it could have exploded, or it might have been human error,” he said.
“We just don’t know yet.”
Mr Naumovski said his advice was to always be careful, and to check your gas bottle before using the barbeque.
