Over the weekend the Jimboomba Cricket Club hosted its annual Pink Stumps day, raising funds for the McGrath Foundation, and had approximately 1200 locals in attendance to support the cause.

Rebel FM representative Joel Hall (who also played on the celebrity cricket team on the day) said it was a successful day.

“Before anyone even walked through the gate last night we had passed last years fundraising mark,” he said.

Councillor Scott Bannan and Rodney Teese, the cricket club president, were working behind the scenes in the lead up to the day.

The cricket club took to social media to share its success.

“You guys are amazing,” they said.

“We cannot thank you enough for your phenomenal support once again for our Pink Stumps Fundraiser for The McGrath Foundation!

“We hope you enjoyed the evening. We will update you in the next few days on our total fundraising figure. You can still donate through the link pinned to the top of our page.

“Let’s keep that tally climbing!!! We are so thrilled that you are all a part of our community. Thank you so much.”

Cr Bannan said it was an event close to his heart.

“The money is great and we finished second in the country last year, which is awesome for a small country town, but really it’s that awareness,” he said.

“If we can save someone’s life, that’s better.

“My wife beat it (cancer) because we got such an early diagnosis, and you can’t put a price on that.

“It’s about raising awareness, and having the people here to enjoy the night in the community, and seeing how good the cricket club is.”

Deputy Mayor Jon Raven was also in attendance and took to social media to share his excitement.

“Huge turn out at Glen Logan Park in Jimboomba for the McGrath Foundation,” he said.

“It’s Scott Bannan Division 9s heartland and he roped me in to doing the hot honey challenge with Cr Natalie Willcocks.
“It was some very spicy honey. I could only get to level 2 out of 5.”
