Logan City’s multicultural Police Liaison Officer Sefa Pati said Kingston Eastern Neighbourhood Group (KENG) has worked harder than ever over the holidays to help Logan City families in need.

“With lots of people enjoying their holidays on Christmas week, KENG staff were in full effect when Logan City’s Cross Cultural Liaison Unit (CCLU) called upon them for assistance with our families seeking support leading up to Christmas eve,” officer Pati said.

“During this period, a single mother and her children appeared at the police station who spoke little English and had nowhere to live.

“Police were able to find family in the area and connected with this family while CCLU engaged with KENG for support with food.

“After an hour or so working something out with KENG, they were able to cook up containers of meatballs and pasta on the spot, and also provide bags of groceries for the family who are now being supported and housed by family.”

The Logan City Cross Cultural Liaison Unit Emergency Relief Department runs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:10am to 12:30pm by appointment for any families or individuals needing support.

KENG also offers food parcels at Yarrabilba on the last Thursdays of each month.
