Logan City’s Food Trails adds Jimboomba House restaurant to the popular foodie list

The Logan City Food Trails is steaming ahead, as another outstanding eatery is added to the ‘must visit’ list: Jimboomba House.

Logan City Lifestyle Chair, Councillor Laurie Koranski says the Logan City food trail is an important initiative of Logan City Council and the SEQ Council of Mayors, and is a key part of Council’s over-arching food tourism strategy that aims to support and unite businesses in Logan.

“The past 12 months have been challenging for our hospitality industry so it is more important than ever that we promote our local food businesses, especially at a time when we are being encouraged to support local economies by exploring our own backyards,” Cr Koranski said.

Owner of Jimboomba House Restaurant Zsuzsanna Guinan says the team are extremely happy to participate, and believe the venue has a considerable amount to offer to the food trail concept.

“We have a broad, fusion menu, where we have combined a number of international styles with a more modern Australian style of cooking,” Ms Guinan said.

“Our signature dishes prove to be very popular, and include seared bacon and smoked salmon wrapped sea scallops dish on a savoury blini, with smoky maple glaze, our twice cooked pork belly with crackling and an apple, red wine caramel sauce, and crispy duck, confit with spicy plum glaze, just to mention a few.

“We also have a great range of desserts from caramilk and coffee to a lemon lime cheesecake with a fresh citrus compote.”

Ms Guinan says that before opening Jimboomba House, she owned a number of restaurants on the Gold Coast, and was looking for a change of pace when she found an opportunity to convert the historic homestead into a charming ‘country’ restaurant.

“It had an immediate appeal,” she said. “As with any new venture and a remote situation there have been numerous challenges, but we have created a successful and popular venue with an excellent reputation.”

Despite the challenges of 2020 Ms Guinan and the team were able to successfully navigate their way through with an incredible amount because of local and customer support.

“We cannot understate the huge amount of support we have received through these tough times,” she said. “We are very humbled by the experience.”

As for being part of the Logan City Food Trails, Ms Guinan says she believes it will create a greater awareness of the diverse range of venues and facilities in our area.

“We see this as a positive and proactive approach and we are grateful to be included,” she said.
