From prehistoric dinosaurs to the ultimate go-karting experience, there’s something for kids of all ages these school holidays in Logan City.
Logan City Council’s popular “KRANK” school holiday program is now open for bookings with all activities free or low-cost.
For 17-year-old Waterford resident Emily Garrett it means making the most of the activities in this year’s program.
“Last year I went go-karting at Kingston Park with my sister and a group of friends,” she said.
“It was such a great way to have fun with my friends during the school holidays.
“This year I’m keen to try kayaking on the Logan River.”
City Lifestyle Committee Chairperson, Councillor Laurie Koranski, said the KRANK school holiday program was always popular and she encouraged residents to book early so as not to miss out.
The KRANK school holiday program is from Saturday, January 9 to Monday, January 25.
Logan City Council Libraries will transport children back millions of years thanks to a special activity.
STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) educators STEM Punks will host online prehistoric zoo designer workshops.
“The workshops are designed for children aged eight years and over and are such a great way to get the imagination working,” Cr Koranski said.
Participants will use STEM skills including biology, 3D design, and coding to design an interactive prehistoric zoo with dinosaurs and any other creatures they can imagine.
There are three sessions for participants over seven days.
Early registration is encouraged as spaces are limited.

Logan Libraries are also embracing a music theme throughout January.
The online presentations include junk music percussion workshop, pots and pans, and a music circle.
Professional musicians from School Music Incursions will host a Junk Music Percussion Workshop via Zoom from 10.30am to 11.30am on Thursday, January 7 and from 2pm to 3pm on Tuesday, January 12.
Participants will learn how to turn recycled and household items into music.
There will also be a special online performance by the Cachicamo Latin Harp family on January 9, from 11am to 11.40am.
They will deliver, via Zoom, a fusion of world folk and contemporary music as they share Latin culture, music and instruments.
Children will also be able to borrow STEAM swags from Logan Libraries centered on science, robots and technology themes.
