Severe weather warning for Logan City and Scenic Rim

A severe weather warning is in place for Logan City and the Scenic Rim and there are minor flash flood warnings for the Logan and Albert Rivers.

Local residents are being warned about the potential for flash flooding Monday, with a significant amount of rain already recorded and more on the way.

Jimboomba recorded 68.2mm in a 24-hour period, while Beaudesert received 40.2mm and Beenleigh copped more than 70mm of rain.

At the same time, nearly 200mm of rain fell at Darlington and O’Reilly’s saw 276mm.

The Bureau of Meteorology said that rain is expected to increase during Monday morning, before beginning to ease through the afternoon.

The SES received multiple call-outs for help across Logan City over the weekend.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services commissioner Greg Leach is asking people not to drive unless they absolutely have to.
