Tears of Love and jockey Isabella Rabjones galloped to an emotional victory in the 2021 Warwick Cup, as a massive crowd watched on at Allman Park.
The Royalty of Country Cups, the Warwick Cup is one of the most respected race meetings in Queensland and pre-dates the Melbourne Cup.
The Kropp Racing prepared five-year-old Bay Gelding, Tears of Love teamed perfectly with Ms Rabjones to continue the undefeated run for both horse and jockey.
It was a tear-filled win for the team with Ms Rabjones openly admitting her mental health struggles, that when she was at her lowest this was the horse that turned her fortunes around and helped her through her toughest days in the sport.
Warwick Turf Club President Barry Burgess says the 161st running of the cup was a record-breaking event.
“Records were broken in every aspect of the cup from nominations to acceptances, turnover, crowd numbers, records all the way through.”
Mr Burgess says the cup doubles as the social event of the year, with the Pavilion packed out, while plenty of glitz and glamour was on show in the Fashions in the Field.
The 2021 Warwick Cup consisted of nine major races, with race winners including Devil’s Rite (Ranbuild Warwick – Scotty Ellis Memorial Maiden Plate 800m), Vladking (Sub-Zero Airconditioning Maiden Handicap 1350m), Pizzo (Gross Wholesale Meats Maiden Handicap 1350m), The Carpenter (Hire Solutions Ratings Band 0 – 55 Handicap 1350m), Ruby Rush (Warwick Vet Clinic Ratings Band 0 – 55 Handicap 1350m), Rocky Nugget (Frasers Livestock Transport Newmarket Benchmark 70 Handicap 1100m), Festival Prince (Warwick Hotel Benchmark 55 Handicap 1100m) Tears of Love (Warwick Credit Union Warwick Cup Open Handicap 1500m) and Cairndow (Hutchison Quarries Benchmark 60 Handicap 1350m).
