‘Urban Menagerie’ at Logan Art Gallery

The Logan Art Gallery is currently offering an insight into outback scenes, family meal times and the amazing animals at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary with its exhibition Urban Menagerie.

The work of artists Helena Jackson-Lloyd and Lei Xu will be among five exhibitions on display until February 27.

Rochedale South artist Chloe Wigg will be showcasing her collection Natural resilience: inner feelings, outward reflections which draws on her own experience of living with an invisible disability.

“I am feeling so excited,” Ms Wigg said of being part of the exhibition. “It’s been a lot of work, and a very bizarre year to get this collection out with everything that’s going on so it’s a huge culmination of really hard work, and I’m excited to see it all up there.

“It’s really validating to have my art hung with all these other amazing artists in such an amazing venue like the Logan Art gallery.”

Murri Taipans Netball Club sign-up

Netball season is fast-approaching and the Murri Taipans are encouraging all ages to come along and learn about their Logan City club.

From 9am Saturday 30th, Club Chair Allison Payne said members of the club will be at the Logan Netball Courts to provide those interested in joining with information and uniforms to try and purchase.

“We’ll be giving information about the trial day for anyone who would like to try out, and we’ll also be down there for a yarn,” Ms Payne said.

“The Murri Taipans is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander name, and we like to incorporate the culture into the club, however everyone is welcome to join.”

Ms Payne said the club is a very family orientated club and take pride in making all members and their families feel welcome and included.

The Murri Taipans are broken into juniors, 7-years-old to 17-years-old, and seniors 17-years-old and up.

Shrek Musical at QPAC

The long-awaited Shrek Musical has landed at the Lyric Theatre QPAC, Queensland Cultural Centre, in South Bank, Brisbane and will be running until 7 February 2021.

Based on the brilliant and Oscar®-winning DreamWorks film, Shrek The Musical is a funny and heart-warming story of a witty and ‘onion-layered’ ogre brought to life on stage with all his friends.

Featuring a score of 19 songs, big laughs, great dancing and breath-taking scenery, it’s no wonder The New York Times called it “true happiness” and The Daily Mirror said it’s “the most fun you’ll ever have”.

To catch this unique musical recommended for children five-years-old and up, tickets are on sale at qpac.com.au or you can phone 136-246.
