The Department of Transport and Main Roads say they haven’t locked in a final location for the new Trinder Park railway station.
As part of the Brisbane – Gold Coast railway corridor’s $1 billion dollar Olympic upgraded, the Trinder Park section of the track is undergoing a major makeover with houses being resumed to facilitate the straightening of the railway at one of the Brisbane networks slowest turning points.
Several Trinder Park residents are set to lose their homes as part of the project, and concerns have also been raised about the environmental impact of the railway at the Acacia Forest Reserve.
A map of the proposed location of the station appeared to indicate that it would be situated within the reserve itself, prompting some negative feedback from community members.

The proposed location of the new station
When asked about this, the Department of Transport and Main Roads say they are still yet to formally make a decision on the station, and will continue to correspond with local community groups.
“Since the project was announced in September 2021, TransLink has met on several occasions with local conservation and interest groups in the vicinity of Karawatha Forest Park and will continue to consult these groups and seek their input as the project design is refined.”
“During community consultation in September and October 2021, TransLink received valuable feedback from the community regarding possible alternative locations for Trinder Park station to minimise environmental impacts and increase the public transport catchment area.
“Further design work and consultation will be undertaken to determine the best location for Trinder Park station.”
The Karawatha Forest Protection Society say they are keen to meet with the Deparment at the beginning of next month to further discuss their concerns about the environmental impact of the project on the Acacia Forest Reserve
They believe the best location for the Trinder Park station at the end of Trinder St and Laurel St, next to the old railway house, as this is closer to residential areas and further away from the Forest.
