Despite Jacaranda Avenue being blocked off by local police and fire services, a Logan City local who was helping out the family whose house burnt down Thursday morning, had her wallet stolen from her car.

Louie Naumovski from Logan House Fire Support Network said it was a ‘kick in the guts’ for the good samaritan who was one of the first on the scene of the house fire.

“Get ready for your blood to boil,” Mr Naumovski said.

“A member of the public that stopped immediately to assist the family when the fire had engulfed the property, had personal possessions stolen from her car whilst trying to do the right thing and being kind hearted.

“She quickly stopped to render assistance but sadly hadn’t locked her vehicle, and why would she need to have to lock her car when there are so many police on scene?”

Mr Naumovski said a black purse with a silver catch that was in the ladies Blue Mazda 3 Hatch, parked on the opposite side of the road of the fire, was removed between the hours of 9:30am and 2:30pm Thursday.

“It was pretty game of them with all of the police and other emergency services on scene,” he said.

“But I guess when you’re that desperate you don’t care.”

The woman’s purse contained: $110 cash, a $50 gift voucher, bank cards (that have since been cancelled), and other cards (which have all been suspended).

Logan police have been notified.

“If anyone saw anything please contact the police and report to them, or get in touch with us to pass on the information to the lady involved,” Mr Naumovski said.

“Even after finding out she had been ripped off and reported the incident to police, she still managed to go back and check on the welfare of the families that were affected after the fire.

“It was just a real kick in the guts after such a positive outcome for what could have been a tragedy yesterday.”

Mr Naumovski said Logan House Fire Support Network will be donating $200 to the woman who had her wallet stolen.
