Treasurer and Member for Woodridge Cameron Dick is under fire from the state opposition over the future of the Queensland Productivity Commission.

Officials are preparing to merge the agency with Mr Dick’s Treasury portfolio.

Deputy opposition leader David Janetzki said he’s concerned about the commission’s integrity after the merger.

“The Labor government haven’t done enough with it,” Mr Janetzki said. “And now they’re actually going to roll it into a department which means that it loses its independence.

“It’s done some great work across a variety of industries.

“We know with COVID-19, we’ve got youth unemployment beyond 27% and we’re going to need every good idea from the business community as well, but in particular the Queensland productivity commission, to help get our economy back on track post COVID.”
