Southern Charm

Stepping just over the border between Logan and The Redlands you can find the delightful Billy’s Backyard BBQ. Now it needs to be said here that I am a lover of smoked meats and American BBQ-style food. I am even known to smoke some ribs at home from time to time! So when I saw that Billy’s had added a breakfast menu I knew I had to try it. Billy’s Backyard BBQ is located at 101 Valley Way, Mt Cotton, and opens early for Breakfast trade Fri – Sun on top of their normal lunch and dinner times. The “vibe” of this place is awesome with country music playing and the smells of the smoker, it’s just sublime. I have never been to Billy’s for dinner but with their full bar and beers on tap, I don’t think that streak will hold for too long.

The breakfast menu is quite extensive and features some of the usual fares like Eggs Benedict and Pancakes but there are also some unique offerings like Pork Belly and Eggs, Brisket and Eggs, or what I went for, Billy’s Breakfast.

The Billy’s Breakfast features Smoked Brisket, two rashes of bacon, 3 (yes you read that right THREE) fried eggs, and turkish toast. Now I suggest you pick up some of their house-made bbq sauce to add to this (free I might add) as it just takes what is already a great breakfast to a new level. The Brisket is beautifully done, the bacon and eggs are great. I was a very happy man.

The coffee is Merlo branded and solid, to be fair it is probably better than I expected as I didn’t think a BBQ place would have good coffee.

Service was amazing, I was lucky enough to be served by Lauren, the owner of the establishment and she was delightful.I highly recommend a trip to Billy’s Backyard BBQ for anyone looking for something just a little bit different for your weekend breakfast
