Alleged attempted robbery at Park Ridge

Logan Police have charged a man and a girl following an alleged attempted robbery in Park Ridge this morning.

Police allege that just before 9 am, the 36-year-old Newtown man drove up to a service station on Park Ridge Road, with a 16-year-old female passenger in a vehicle with stolen number plates, stopping behind a Mazda whilst the owner of the Mazda was out of the car paying for fuel.

Both the man and the girl allegedly jumped into the Mazda, attempting to start it until they were challenged by the owner.

They allegedly fled on foot into the path of a Toyota, forcing that driver to stop.

It is further alleged the 36-year-old man attempted to pull the driver, a 38-year-old woman, from the Toyota and the man and girl both fled on foot when the woman resisted.

The man and girl were apprehended a short distance away.

The man has been charged with stealing / receiving stolen property (number plates), enter premises with intent, attempted robbery with violence.

He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The girl has been charged with enter premises with intent and attempted robbery with violence and she is due to appear in the Southport Children’s Court later this month.

Investigators would like to speak with anyone who witnessed this incident and anyone with dashcam footage from that area this morning.
