What better way to get the true Miles experience than staying with a Miles local? With Back to the Bush Festival tickets selling quickly we’re running short on accommodation and looking for new local tourism ambassadors who are willing to open up their homes for the festival weekend.
Can you help? Would you like to earn some extra income and become a local tourism ambassador?
Miles local and Back to the Bush committee member Sharron Colley said while running short on accommodation is great for local businesses, selling more tickets would be an even bigger boost for the local economy.
But to do that, Mrs Colley says we’re going to need more accommodation options.
“We should get behind this and open up our homes to show our local community spirit,” Mrs Colley said.
“Yes we’re running short on accommodation but if we band together we can get around it and make it happen.
“We are a very safe community. Especially Covid safe so there’s nothing to worry about there.
“Miles and district is a very community minded area and we just can’t wait to share our community, history, and stories over the festival weekend.
“And if you can’t stay, don’t forget there are plenty of train tickets available from Toowoomba to Miles. It’s a very vintage steam train.”
Mrs Colley will be opening up her home Dogwood Bend over the weekend, however it’s already at full capacity.
She said in the true spirit of country hospitality, Miles would like to offer visitors a unique bush experience to enjoy festival events and activities over the weekend as ‘one of the locals’.
Do you enjoy having visitors stay? Would you like to earn a little extra income over the festival weekend? Do you have a spare cabin, granny flat, or even a spare bedroom or two or three? Then you’re exactly who the Miles Back to Bush Festival committee is looking for!
The festival runs from Thursday September 9 through to Sunday September 11.
It would be great if you could accommodate some of our visitors for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, however even Friday and Saturday nights would be helpful.
