It’s alleged that shortly after 12pm the 47-year-old man entered the rear of the property and poured an accelerant onto a chair before setting fire to it.

Upon police and emergency services arrival the fire was extinguished causing damage to the unit.

A woman inside at the time was able to escape without injury.

The 47-year-old Beaudesert man has been denied police bail and remanded in custody to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow charged with domestic violence offences including arson, trespass and using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic and family violence, you should report it to police.
