Logan City’s covid cluster

Another person in Logan City has tested positive to Covid 19 and it’s the mother of a four year old child, as earlier reported by My News Feed  who was confirmed as Covid Positive on Friday.

The confirmation comes as two truck drivers also test positive.

A Qantas Pilot who lives in Kingaroy who travelled to Brisbane is confirmed with Covid.

He flew to Hong Kong and then returned to Melbourne

Queensland Chief Health Officer Doctor Jeannette Young says he’s a part time freight driver and was in Tamworth in August prior to his flight.

“I’m comfortable because he pretty much stayed at home and his wife and child have tested negative”.

There’s also another truck driver who tested positive who had some exposure time at the Archerfield BP but he’s low risk and he’s back in New South Wales.

“I’m not concerned about the mother of the four year old girl as she’s been in isolation for most of her infectious period”.

Chief health officer Jeanette Young says she’s “very concerned” about community transmission  in the Beenleigh Logan City area as a cluster due to the truck driver’s high viral load.

Queenslanders living in the Beenleigh, Logan and Upper Gold Coast areas have been asked to remain on alert for symptoms.

The Beenleigh Marketplace has been listed as a close contact site linked to the positive cases.

Both positive cases involving the child and the truck driver visited the Beenleigh Marketplace shopping centre and a nail salon last Monday while the truck driver was infectious but many failed to use the QR code at the local nail salon which has made it difficult for contact tracers to do their job.

The next 24 to 48 hours will be critical as the Government considers whether we go into another lockdown,  though the matter was not raised at today’s media conference.
