Toowoomba woman believes she was entitled to issue fake COVID-19 exemptions

A Toowoomba woman, who is against COVID-19 regulations, believes she was entitled to issue around 600 fake medical exemptions.   

It’s alleged the 45-year-old Darling Heights woman pretended to be a doctor and  allegedly issued fake medical ‘exemption certificates’ for people who didn’t want  undergo COVID-19 testing, receive a vaccine or wear a mask.

She was charged under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law with five counts of taking a title indicating a person is a health practitioner.

She is the first person in Queensland to be charged with this offence.

Detective Acting Inspector Damien Powell from Taskforce Sierra Linnet says a member of the public told police about the woman. 

The AHPRA offences carry a possible penalty of a $10,000 fine and a period of imprisonment. 

The woman is scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday October 28.

Investigations are ongoing.
