A unique business servicing Logan City and the Gold Coast is raising awareness and donations during Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October in the hopes of helping local women going through breast cancer diagnosis.
Soul Sisters Unite was co-founded by three women who were diagnosed with breast cancer. Co-founder, Janna Azzi, says that during their treatment, they created a group to support each other.
“We often reflect on what comforted us through those times and now how we can help others,” she says.
“We were talking over coffee about how often we get asked by people what items helped us going through treatment and what would be a useful gift to buy their friend, or loved one who has been diagnosed with cancer. Following that conversation we realised when it comes to this, there was little information or guidance about what is a practical and beneficial gift for someone going through treatment.”
From that, Soul Sisters Unite was created and teamed up with local suppliers to hand-pick practical and sensitive items to comfort people through their cancer journey – from Boody beanies and Go for zero bamboo toothbrush and pens, to Soak Society wellness soak and DiLorenzo lemongrass and ginger tea, all gifted in a beautiful box.
“We have personally used the products chosen and would love to share them with others,” Janna says. “Some of the items can be used for now and some can be kept for a keep sake.”
“As we have personally experienced going through a diagnosis we know what has helped and comforted us and we would like to offer guidance and to take some of the burden away from loved ones during a difficult time along with wanting to bring comfort and a smile to people undergoing treatment and to let them know they are cared for.

October, Australia’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, provides an opportunity for the community to focus on breast cancer and its impact on those affected by it. Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Australian women, excluding non-melanoma skin cancer, but survival rates continue to improve in Australia with 89 out of every 100 women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer now surviving five or more years beyond diagnosis.
“We are excited to announce that locals can Pay It Forward through our community-based donations,” Janna says. “You will have the option to purchase a gift box that we will personally deliver to a hospital or cancer clinic on the Gold Coast to be given to someone in need.
“And, for every Pay It Forward Care Box purchased during the month of October, we will match that box for box.
“We’re also going to organise a support group breakfast for 15 women from Logan and the Gold Coast who have been recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer or going through treatment. That breakfast is for them to get to know other women who are in treatment or act as a support group they can talk to.”
