Residents in low-lying areas of Logan are waiting for flood waters to recede, before they can start to clean up the mess.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the Logan River is likely to remain above the major flood level overnight and into tomorrow, before receding.
Major flooding along the lower sections of the river is above the 2017 flood levels.
One particular area of concern is Waterford, where the Larry Storey Bridge flooded overnight, with the water level higher than the bridge.
The home of Waterford local Tony McCorry was one of many inundated by floodwaters.
Mr McCorry says it’s the biggest flood he’s ever experienced.
Mr McCorry says he was surprised how high the water level reached this morning.
“We woke up thinking we would get ankle-deep water, we actually woke up to knee-high water.
“We had to move fairly quickly this morning.”
Mr McCorry says he expected his property to be flooded.
“We prepared as best as we could.
“Basically everything we could carry from downstairs went upstairs and all the furniture went in a truck.
“All that is left inside is some kitchen items, pots, pans, we got the fridge out.
“It will just be structural damage that we will have to deal with.
“We will hose it out and assess it then.”
Mr McCorry says he is thankful to those who helped out.
“We had good help.
“We had a few of us here, about five or six of us here helping out.
“My brother lent me a truck to load all our stuff into.”
While the clean-up will be mammoth, a Logan Mud Army is being mobilised to help flood-affected residents.
