A 20-year-old Marsden man has been charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm after emergency services were called to an incident in Wilson Street, Camira late yesterday morning.
Police allege the man attacked a 33-year-old man he knows, causing significant head injuries, before leaving the scene.
The injured man underwent surgery overnight and remains in a critical condition at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
The 20-year-old man was located overnight by Ipswich detectives and charged to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today.
An Investigation Centre has been established at Yamanto Police Station and a crime scene is ongoing in Wilson Street.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or those with dash cam or CCTV footage to contact them.
